The other day at work, an employee asked me did I know who I was voting for? Surprisingly, I took a minute to think and did not have an answer. This had been the first time that I really thought about it and could honestly say to myself that not only did I not know who all the candidates were, but I did not know what they stood for.
What the saddest part about this is that I have voted before, and even then I didn't know what the candidate stood for. Am I the only one who does this? Probably not. I'm sure there are many people out there like me who basically lets the media decide there vote. At one point I said to myself "I'm voting for Obama because it's time we have a black President". But now as I really think about it, what do I know about him? Nothing. I don't know what he's for, or what he's against. I have been doing a little bit of research and so far I have learned that he is the only African American in senate (Illinois) and that his mother is a White woman. So obviously I have a lot more research to do.
We also have Mrs. Hilary Clinton, who I was also thinking about voting for because maybe it's time for a woman President. But again, I asked myself what do I know about her? I know that she's married to ex President Bill Clinton, she as well is on the Senate (New York) , and her husband cheated on her.

It may sound a little ignorant on my part but one thing I know for sure is that I am being honest. So what I ask of you who may read this is do your research before you vote.
Grateful: I am grateful for having the right to vote for whomever I do chose. There was a point in time when I would not have the right to vote because of my gender and my race.
